I have studied the fifty-eighth chapter of Isaiah quite a bit because there are some pretty bold promises in it. But there are also some pretty clear requirements laid out in it.

One depends upon the other.

I thank God for His grace. I am grateful that I don’t have to try to do everything on my own. I am thankful that whatever He tells me to do, He gives me the grace to accomplish. That way He gets the credit and the glory, not me.

But that does not mean that I have nothing to do, that I can just sit in a chair and wait for the Lord to do it all.

No, I have to cooperate with the grace of God.

So do you.

In this chapter there are many promises of peace and prosperity for us as God’s people, but they are all dependent upon our doing certain things, as we see in this verse.
